An expansive community park for all of Davis
The cornerstone of the project is an expansive community park across from Nugget Shopping Center with needed sports fields, gathering places, playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and greenbelts. Plus a 6.8-acre neighborhood park and 40.8 acres of greenbelts throughout the site.
47 acres of permanently conserved natural habitat
The project will preserve approximately 47.1 acres of alkali playa and wetland habitat with a permanent conservation easement and perpetual endowment, developed in coordination with qualified conservation organizations and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. There has never been a development project in Davis that has dedicated this much land to native habitat. Approximately 4,000 additional new drought-resistant trees will be planted throughout the entire project.
Millions invested in safer, smarter streets
Two grade-separated crossings — one under Poleline Road near Nugget Fields, one over F Street and the railroad tracks with a landing near Northstar Pond — both fully funded by the project. Over 7 miles of multi-use trails, public bike lanes, and walking paths. Safe Routes to Schools. Tens of millions of dollars in roadway improvements near the site, funding for traffic light synchronization, and many other improvements throughout town.
